College


Pre- College Programs: These programs provide supplemental and enrichment experiences and college exposure to high school students. Activities can include SAT prep, college tours, and summer enrichment classes or internship experiences. 

Four-Year Colleges and Universities: Both universities and colleges grant Bachelor's degrees. Universities are often larger and offer both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Both can be broken down into private and public schools. Public schools tend to be large and less expensive, while private schools can be smaller and more expensive.

 

Community and Junior Colleges: Community and Junior colleges offer two-year associate degree programs. They are usually less expensive than four-year schools and have less demanding criteria. This is a good choice for those who for students who want to improve their transcript, don't want to commit to a four-year program and students whose careers do not require a four year degree. After finishing this degree, students can enter the workforce or transfer to a four-year university.  

 

Career Training

 

Vocational/ Technical Training Schools: Vocational and technical training schools are privately owned and operated schools that focus on teaching skills requires to a specific job. Time spent at these schools can range anywhere from five months to three years. depending on the field. some of the most common fields of study

Apprenticeships: A training system that produces highly skilled workers to meet the demands of employers competing in a global economy. A Registered Apprenticeship ensures quality training by combining on-the-job training with classroom instruction.

 

 

 

Experiential and Employment Opportunities

 

InternshipsTemporary employment and learning experience with an organization, sometimes without pay, in order to gain work experience or satisfy requirements for a qualification: Internships help you build professional skills, learn more about different industries, and can lead to future job opportunities.

Paid Fellowships and Service Learning: Service-Learning is a form of experiential learning where students apply academic knowledge and critical thinking skills to address genuine community needs. In some cases, students can earn a stipend during or after completing their term of service.

Civil Service Careers: Civil Service Careers are government jobs that require taking and passing a competitive civil service examination in order to gain permanent appointment.
